Is that a monkey with a coconut?!
I was going to make a crayon wallet this Friday but my 2 year old Liam had other plans....
He got a hold of my box of crayons, and I lost all motivation to make it then. So instead I decided to make some pants for Ryker my 8 1/2 month old. (=
I was thrift store shopping with my friend Shonda last weekend, and I came across some knit "fabric" that had coconuts, palm trees, and says shake your coconuts. I had to buy it. When I got into the car I found that it was 3 pant leg pieces cut off of pajama pants? No clue... But still cool.
Then a few days ago I was trolling the new uploads on crafster and came across a user that also has a baby boy around Rykers age. She posted some cute clothes that she had made him. At the end of her post I saw that she had a blog :
I then HAD to go check it out. I saw on there tutorial for the little pants. I knew right then and there I had to make these pants out of the coconut fabric.
The tutorial has a pattern you can download. Very easy to follow. And of course I messed up. I didn't flip the pattern over to make the 2 pieces line up right so the back part is not bigger like it is suppose to be. Good thing Ryker doesn't have a butt!

Why I made this blog.
So, I made this blog so that I could post my attempts at re-creating other peoples tutorials. And post my success and or complete failures! Now that my moms birthday stuff is done, I will start doing that. I have a revamped tin can that has different projects to do. I will pull one out once a week and show you pics, give the link, and tell you about how much fun I had making it, mishaps and all.
Life willing I will start this on Friday. (=

My White Whale
So, I finally caught my white whale. The Sophia Carry All bag. I hate that bag with a passion. And I love it. It was a pain in the ass to make. I will tell you that. But, I will do it again. One of these days. A may do on piece and then not do another for a month. I don't know, maybe I will have my bag done by my birthday (Dec.) LOL.
I forgot to take pics of the end result. But I do have pics of the lining pinned into the bag. Sorry, I got so excited when I finished it I wrapped it and packed it up into my mom's package. (=

Sophia Carry-All Progress
I got the thread and needle to the fabric. The main pieces are done. Thank goodness. I was so jazzed by that I almost finished the ouside of the bag in one night, almost. I got to the zipper and end pieces, and started making dumb mistakes. So, for once being smart I put it away. Hopefully I will get the outside done tomorrow. Wish me luck!

On My Way...
After much procrastination.... I have finally started on my mom's Sophia bag. I got all the pieces for it cut out! I am soo excited. I just had to finally put my foot down and say, "Today I am not going to spend my whole day cleaning!" And I stopped myself and went to tracing and cutting.
Cross your fingers for me that tomorrow I put some thread to this fabric and get to sewing!
.... I would really like to get started on the millions of projects I have running through my head. Come on Sophia BAG!!!!

Patterns are Scary!!
I bought a sewing pattern about 2 months ago. The Sophia Carry All Pattern by Amy Buttler. It is a really cute bag. I then decided to make it for my mom as a Christmas/50th Birthday Present. I read about it before I bought it. Then after I bought it started seeing posts about how hard it was. EEk. (this is my 1st real pattern by the way.)
I just finally pulled it out yesterday. I ironed on some iron on adhesive to the back of the pattern so I can store it and use it again with out it getting ruined. And I have only cut out the exterior fabric.
I haven't done anything else yet. The house is a little hectic with Gray going back to school from track break. And because, well Patterns Are Scary!

Happy New Year!
Hello all!
Welcome to my first ever blog!
I started it as my New Years Resolution to try something new that I was too chicken to do before. I have no idea how this works. So, it will definitely be a work in progress. But, as we get further into 2010. I hope to make this an awesome blog, that will inspire other bored housewives, mommies, and whomever is board out of their minds and crafts to keep themselves sane!
And of course I am sick as I start this so my mind is complete mush. Go figure.
